Kidapawan City LGU reverts to four-day work due to surge in Covid19 cases

The Local Government Unit of Kidapawan City will revert to the four-day work per week for its employees beginning Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista signed Memorandum Order No. 39 (series of 2021) which recalls Memorandum Order No. 1865 signed on Dec. 23, 2020that mandated the employees of Kidapawan City LGU to render five-day work, i.e. Monday to Friday starting January 4, 2021 or the first Monday of the year.

Mayor Evangelista stressed that the City Government cannot compromise the health and safety of the employees and constituents who at present expected to go to the city hall for various transactions this month.

“Your wellbeing is our utmost priority and we cannot compromise your safety so we have to reduce the risk of Covid19 by recalling the order mandating a five-day work schedule”, said the mayor.

On the other hand, the essential offices situated within the City Hall premises will continue to operate and serve its respective clients from Jan. 4-20, 2021. Under Executive Order No. 73 which Evangelista signed during the height of the pandemic last year, the offices of the City’s Business Processing and Licensing, Treasurer, Assessor, Planning, Development and Zoning, and Building withskeletal workforce to ensure that important transactions are not hampered especially in this month of January.

Last Monday, January 4, 2021, different government agencies and offices have set-up their tables at the city hall lobby, front area, and the city gymnasium for the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS), an annual activity converging the Department of Trade and Industry, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and offices within the LGU in one accessible areato cater for assorted permits and licenses and franchises, too.

The City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU) disclosed that there are 34 active cases of Covid19 in the city as of January 5, 2021. This, the CESU says clearly manifest a surge of infections and is attributed to the holiday season where many residents went outside their homes to malls and to social gatherings such as Christmas parties and other activities including family reunions.

With these circumstances, Mayor Evangelista once more appealed to the constituents to refrain from going outside except for very urgent reasons or purposes and to consistently comply with the minimum health protocols such as wearing of face mask, face shield, and disinfection. Lastly, while the four-day schedule workweek is in effect he assured everyone that the LGU will not remiss in its mandate to serve Kidapawenos and will always put public service a topmost priority in these trying times.
