WITH THE PUBLIC THREAT POSED BY COVID19, DRUM AND LYRE THEMATIC COSTUME PARADE ORDERED CANCELLED
KIDAPAWAN CITY – City Mayor Joseph Evangelista has approved the joint recommendation of the City Tourism Office, DepEd Kidapawan City Schools Division and City Health Office to CANCEL the Drum & Lyre Competition and Thematic Costume Parade on March 14, 2020.

Bases for the Mayor’s approval of the joint recommendation are Presidential Proclamation No. 922 declaring a State of Public Health Emergency and Department of Education Memorandum No. 031.

The City Government cannot afford to expose participating schools and learners to the hazards of COVID19 as precautionary measure for all, hence, the added reason for the approval of the joint recommendation.

Said activities are part of the 22nd Charter Day celebration of the City on February 10-14, 2020 that were earlier postponed due to the COVID19 threat to the general public.

The cash prizes allocated for the events will be distributed equally to all participating entries, and the manner of distribution will be tackled during a meeting between the City Tourism Office and the participating contingents later today, 10 March 2020.

Likewise, the public is encouraged to follow the health advisories issued by the National Government to ensure the prevention and containment of COVID19.

COVID-19 Update

As of now, Kidapawan City has 23 PUMs. 16 have already completed the 14-day mandatory quarantine period without manifesting any symptom of Covid-19 infection. As of now, 6 remaining PUMs are undergoing the quarantine period. They have a travel history from the following countries: South Korea, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Out of the PUMs, one (from Hong Kong) manifested symptoms and was immediately categorized as a PUI. The patient was immediately transported to CRMC in Cotabato City using an ambulance designated for the purpose. The ambulance driver was equipped with DOH-recommended protective equipment. The ambulance was also disinfected immediately after transport. Upon confinement, the patient was immediately tested for Covid-19. The samples were sent to RITM and Australia for testing. The official result is NEGATIVE, the official result being: “Sars Cov 2 (causative agent of Covid 19) viral RNA not detected.” Said patient is recovering well and is already for discharge.

The public is assured that your City Government together with the DOH is constantly working to monitor and prevent the spread of Covid-19.

VOTER’S REGISTRATION PANSAMANTALANG SINUSPINDE NG CITY COMELEC DAHIL SA PELIGRO NG COVID19
KIDAPAWAN CITY – SINUSPINDE pansamantala ng City Comelec ang Voter Registration at Satellite Registration sa mga Barangay ng lungsod bunga ng peligrong dulot ng Corona Virus 2019 sa publiko.

Kinumpirma mismo ni City Election Officer Angelita Failano ang temporary suspension sa isang text message.
Ito ay pagsunod sa Public Advisory ng Education and Information Department ng Commission on Elections National Office sa Manila na ipinalabas nitong March 9, 2020.

Sakop ng advisory ang pagsasantabi muna ng mga naka schedule na mga pagpapatala ng botante at satellite registration sa mga barangay sa buong bansa mula march 10 hanggang March 31, 2020.

Sa Kidapawan City, kasali sa suspension ang pagpapatala sa mismong tanggapan ng City comelec pati na sa mga naka schedule na kahalintulad na aktibidad sa mga barangay simula sa March 14, 2020.

Mahahagip nito ang satellite voter registration sa March 14, 2020 Barangay Birada, March 21, 2020 Meohao at March 27- 28, 2020 Ilomavis.

Hahanapan pa ng City Comelec ng bagong petsa kung kailan gagawin ang mga maiisantabing pagpapatalang nabanggit.

ANOTHER DISTRESSED KIDAPAWENYA WORKING OVERSEAS REPATRIATED
KIDAPAWAN CITY – ANOTHER KIDAPAWENYA DISTRESSED Overseas Filipina working in a household in Kuwait was safely repatriated back here after the intervention made by the City Government.

Evelyn Pacatang Cumahig, 33 years old, single parent, from Barangay Katipunan here, safely went home on February 29, 2020 after ten months of working in dire conditions and was rescued by the Philippine Authorities in the said Middle Eastern country.

Evelyn paid a visit to City Mayor Joseph Evangelista on March 5, 2020 to personally thank him for providing the needed assistance for her safe and successful repatriation back to her family.

In their conversation, she told Mayor Evangelista that she was beaten up by her male Kuwaiti employer. This is aside from her salary not given for a long time, and sleeping in cramp and unventilated room for the whole duration of her employment.

Evelyn also revealed that her agency’s office closed here in the Philippines and that she was sold to another agency for her services.

Unknown to her employer, she posted her difficult situation on Facebook when she was able to have the opportunity to use her cellphone.
Upon learning of her situation, her family in Barangay Katipunan sought the assistance of Mayor Evangelista.

The mayor then dispatched Ms. Aida Labina of the CHRMO to coordinate with the authorities to repatriate Evelyn back in Kidapawan City.

Ms. Labina coordinated with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Philippine Embassy officials in Kuwait on the third week of February 2020 and successfully rescued Evelyn from her employer.

Evelyn is the third overseas working Filipina to be repatriated back home recently with the intervention of the City Government.

Grace Entrina from Sibawan Kidapawan City and Maribel Lapinid from Pikit Cotabato safely went back home and reunited with their loved ones in February 2020 after receiving maltreatment from their employers through the help extended by the City Government.

At present, Evelyn is being considered to receive livelihood assistance from the OWWA, Labina said as she is coordinating with the agency in processing the pertinent documents needed.##(cio/ajpme/lkro)

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

The City Mayor has approved the joint recommendation of the City Tourism Office, Deped Kidapawan City Schools Division and City Health Office to CANCEL the Drum & Lyre Competition and Thematic Costume Parade.

The decision is based on Presidential Proclamation No. 922 declaring a State of Public Health Emergency, as well as Department of Education Memorandum No. 031.

The cash prizes allocated for the events will be distributed equitably to all participating entries, and the manner of distribution will be tackled during a meeting between the City Tourism Office and the participating contingents later today, 10 March 2020.

As per the public advisory of the City Mayor, the general public is again strictly enjoined to observe the following precautions:

A. Increase your immune system by adequate sleep (at least eight hours a day), adequate hydration (at least six to eight glasses of water per day) and avoidance of activities harmful to your health (smoking, alcoholic beverages, prohibited drugs);

B. Build up your nutritional status by eating nutritious food and eating at proper mealtimes;

C. Prevent exposure to possible infection by: avoiding unnecessary exposure to crowded places, covering your mouth and nose when coughing using handkerchief or coughing at your elbow, avoiding unnecessary exposure to air-conditioned areas, avoiding touching your eyes and nose with dirty hands, proper handwashing, using 70% alcohol and hand sanitizers to clean hands in the absence of water, and proper wearing of face masks;

D. Seek early medical consultation if your experience the following symptoms of flu such as cough, fever, body malaise, sneezing, colds (sipon), and the like;

E. Take food supplements such as multivitamins and vitamin C.

F. Avoid panic buying. To stop the infection, we need to help other stop it too.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM COMELEC:

As a response to the growing threat to public health posed by #COVID19, #VoterReg2020 has been suspended by the COMELEC, until the 31st of March 2020. The suspension will take effect nationwide tomorrow, the 10th of March 2020. The public is advised to take all necessary precaution to limit their exposure to the possibility of COVID-19 infection.

CITY GOV’T, WITH LOVE JAN FOUNDATION INC AWARD TEMPORARY LEARNING SHELTER FOR DAY CARE PUPILS IN BRGY NUANGAN

KIDAPAWAN CITY – City Mayor Joseph Evangelista personally turned-over the Temporary Learning Shelter for day care pupils of Barangay Nuangan here.

The TLS is one of the City Government’s assistance for day care learning centers that incurred damages during the October 2019 series of earthquakes.

The new learning facility was constructed with the help of With Love Jan Foundation Incorporated, a Non-Government organization that has been a partner of the City Government in its education, health and nutrition programs since 2015.

“With the new Temporary Learning Center, our day care pupils will no longer have difficulties in attending school. We made sure that this TLC will shade our kids during the rain and on sunny days aside from being a conducive center for learning”, the Mayor said in his message during the turn-over ceremony held on March 3, 2020.

Earlier in January 2020, Mayor Evangelista held a talk with With Love Jan President Dr. Bernie Miguel, MD on possible post-earthquake rehabilitation assistance to bring back normalcy to the lives of Kidapawenyos.

The facility is located within the Nuangan Barangay Hall premises that is very accessible to the children.

Nuangan Barangay Chair Cristina Padaya thanked the City Government and With Love Jan Foundation for providing the needed facility for the day care pupils to recover from the trauma brought by the earthquakes.

Mayor Evangelista also revealed that Nuangan will receive an additional P200,000 assistance for the repair of its Barangay Hall that was damaged during the earthquake.

The repair will make it easier for Nuangan Barangay Officials to govern and serve their constituents.##(cio/ajpme/lkro)

CITY GOV’T ASSURES FULL SUPPORT TO NEW KIDAPAWAN CITY DILG DIRECTOR

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Full support will be expected by the new City DILG leadership.

This was the assurance made by City Mayor Joseph Evangelista to new Kidapawan City Department of the Interior and Local Government Local Government Operations Officer Julia Judith Geveso during the turn over ceremony and courtesy call on March 3, 2020 at City Hall.

Geveso as LGOO VI, served at the Municipality of President Roxas, Cotabato before her assignment here.

She replaces outgoing City DILG LGOO VI Aida Garcia who will now be serving Geveso’s former post at the said Municipality.

Mayor Evangelista assured Geveso that the City Government will abide with the directives of the DILG and sustain its implementation.

Aside from giving support, the Mayor provided the new DILG City LGOO a glimpse of the local programs and innovations being implemented to help empower Barangay Local Government Units improve governance, accountability and transparency, delivery of basic health and social services, revenue generation, and public safety etc.

The City Government gives cash incentives to Barangay LGU’s that achieved the mentioned innovations as a reward and means for sustainability of exercising its mandate on governance and delivery of services.

Also present during the turn over ceremony were Cotabato Provincial DILG Chief Ali Abdullah, former Kidapawan City DILG Director Inecita Kionisala, and City Government Department Heads. ##(cio/ajpme/lkro)

BAGONG TRICYCLE ROUTE PLAN BINABALANGKAS NA NG CITY GOV’T

KIDAPAWAN CITY – BABAGUHIN na ng City Government ang kasalukuyang Tricycle Route Plan sa layuning mabawasan ang posibleng abala na daranasin ng mga pasahero at tsuper ng tricycle sakaling maipatupad ang DILG Memo Circular 2020-036 na nagbabawal sa mga tricycle na mag-operate sa national highway.

Pebrero 28, 2020 ng pangunahan ni City Mayor Joseph Evangelista ang pagtitipon ng Tricycle Task force para pag-usapan ang mga babaguhing probisyon ng Tricycle Route Plan para magiging katanggap tanggap sa mga operators, drivers at pasahero ang pagpapatupad ng DILG MC 2020-036.

Matatandaang nagpalabas ng kautusan ang DILG sa pamamagitan ng MC 2020-036 noong Pebrero 17, 2020 na dapat ng ipatupad ng mga LGU sa buong bansa sa loob ng tatlumpong araw o sa March 17.

Bagamat at pangunahing dahilan ng kautusan na protektahan ang riding public na masangkot sa sakuna sakay ng mga tricycle sa national highway, may probisyon sa batas na maaring magpahintulot sa mga tricycle na dumaan dito.

Ito ay kung ‘wala ngang alternatibong ruta ang mga tricycle sa paghahatid ng mga pasahero’.

Katunayan ay may nauna ng nabuong TRP ang lungsod sa ilalim ng Local Public Transport Route Plan o LPTRP na isinumite ng City Government sa Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board o LTFRB noon pang 2017.

Nakapaloob sa LPTRP ang mga ruta ng lahat ng PUJ’s at tricycle na dumadaan sa Kidapawan City matapos magpalabas ng kahalintulad na direktiba ang LTFRB.

Ngunit sa hindi malamang kadahilanan ay hindi pa ipinagbibigay alam ng LTFRB ang isinumiteng LPTRP ng City Government hanggang sa kasalukuyan, kung kaya at inutusan na ni Mayor Evangelista na alamin ito ng Tricycle Task Force kung ano na ang estado nito sa ahensya.

Laman ng binagong Tricycle Route Plan ang mga estatehikong lugar kung saan matatagpuan ang mga terminal ng tricycle pati na ang mga rutang pinapayagan ng City Government.

Kasali na rin ang bahagi ng national highway na dinadaanan ng mga sasakyang apat na tonelada pataas ang bigat at normal na tumatakbo ng apatnapung kilometro bawat oras.

Dagdag pa rito ang bahagi ng national highway na dapat dadaanan ng tricycle kapag wala talagang alternatibong ruta sa paghahatid ng pasahero.

Magiging basehan ito ng isang ordinansang ipapasa ng Sangguniang Panlungsod na aaprubahan naman ni Mayor Evangelista saka ipapasa sa DILG.

Sa ngayon ay nakikipag-usap na ang City Government sa sector ng tricycle upang maipaalam ang DILG MC 2020-036 at masegurong maayos na maipatutupad ang kautusan.##(cio)
