City Government of Kidapawan launches “Magpuyo sa Balay, Mananom og Gulay 2.0”

KIDAPAWAN CITY (March 10, 2021) – The City Government of Kidapawan through the Office of the City Agriculturist is launching the “Magpuyo sa Balay, Mananom og Gulay 2.0”, a contest that aims to encourage backyard gardening among the residents of the 40 barangays of the city amid the Covid-19 pandemic. 

City Agriculturist Marissa T. Aton was tasked by City Mayor Joseph Evangelista to spearhead the month-long contest (March 10 – April 10, 2021) that will also support and promote food sufficiency in the city by planting variety of vegetables.

Mayor Evangelista at the start of Covid-19 pandemic last year formulated proactive measures to address the problems that will possibly be confronted by the city such as less mobility and less production due to lockdowns and other concerns that affects food production.

“We are launching anew the contest amid the Covid-19 pandemic in order to increase food production and food sufficiency and for families to be productive even at home”, Mayor Evangelista said while highlighting the contest as part of the City Government’s various initiatives to help the agriculture sector 

Last April 2020, the City Government of Kidapawan launched the same contest and received huge response from ordinary households to the level of vegetable and fruit growers in the many barangays of the city. 

This year, the City Agriculturist Office again hopes to obtain a wide response from the people who alongside the City Government are exerting efforts in the campaign against Covid-19 pandemic and reduce its ill-effects in the community.

“We don’t want to let go of any opportunity especially now that the Covid-19 pandemic is still very much around and this time we will again urge the residents to be with us in this advocacy as a way to prevent food insufficiency and hunger”, said Aton as she appealed for support from every stakeholder.

The contest is open to all residents of the Kidapawan City and their entries (gardens) must be also located in the city. Participants are advised to send photos of their gardens with details such as name, address, and contact number. The participant gardener should also send a selfie with his garden as background.

A daily winner will be announced (Monday to Friday) and he or she cannot win twice in a week in order to give chance to other contestants. A weekly winner will be selected from all daily winners.

At the final or fourth week all daily winners should submit a latest picture of his or her garden showing the development in the entry garden and latest selfie having the garden as background again. Judging of the Champion of “Magpuyo sa Balay, Mananom ug Gulay 2.0” will be done by a team led by City Agriculturist Aton through personal visitation ang ocular of the entry. (CIO_AJPME/JSCJ)

DAHIL SA MATAGUMPAY na pagpapatupad ng programa noong 2020 sa panahon ng Covid19 pandemic, muling ibinabalik ng City Government ang Magpuyo sa Balay, Mananom og Gulay simula March 10, 2021. Layun ng aktibidad na i-promote ang kahalagahan ng food security para may pagkukunan ng sariwa at masustansyang pagkain sa panahon ng pandemya at pagsusulong ng ‘urban gardening’ sa mga tahanan sa lungsod. Kinakailangang nasa lungsod ng Kidapawan ang mismong vegetable garden at bukas ang paligsahan sa lahat ng Kidapawenyo na may sariling hardin ng gulay sa kanila mismong bakuran, ayon pa sa City Agriculture Office. Upang makasali, kinakailangan lamang magpadala ng mga larawan – larawan ng kanyang vegetable garden at kanyang personal na larawan na nasa kanyang mismong hardin, kalakip ang kanyang pangalan, address at contact number sa Facebook page ng City Government. Hanggang alas tres lamang hapon ang submission ng entries para mag-qualify sa daily judging ng City Government. Maglalaban-laban naman ang lahat ng mga nanalong daily winner sa weekly judging ng paligsahan. Mananalo ng cash prizes ang mga magwawagi kung saan ay ihahayag sa weekly radio program na Laban Kidapawan ng City Government sa Ronda FM. Ang Magpuyo sa Balay Mananom og Gulay ay kinilala bilang isa sa mga Best Practices ng Kidapawan City ng Department of Agriculture na nakatulong na maitaguyod ang pamumuhay ng mga nagtatanim ng gulay sa panahon ng pandemya noong nakalipas na taon. KIDAPAWAN CITY – BALIK NA SA REGULAR FIVE-DAY WORK week ang City Government simula March 15 – 19, 2021. Sa bisa ng Memorandum Number 410 s. 2021, na bagong lang inilabas ni City Mayor Joseph Evangelista, bukas na ang lahat ng tanggapan ng Lokal na Pamahalaan mula araw ng Lunes hanggang Biyernes alas otso ng umaga hanggang alas singko na ng hapon simula sa mga petsang nabanggit. Maala-alang pansamantalang ipinatupad ang four-day work week simula ng taon dahil na rin sa pagtaas ng kaso ng Covid19 sa lungsod. Sa pamamagitan nito ay mas mapapabilis na ng City Government ang pagbibigay serbisyo publiko sa lahat. Kaugnay nito, itinigil na rin ang work from home scheme ng ilang empleyado kaya at balik opisina na ang mga ito, samantalang tuloy-tuloy naman ang trabaho ng mga field workers ng City Government. Pinapayuhan pa rin ang lahat na sumunod sa mga itinatakdang minimum health protocols kapag papasok sa City Hall at mga tanggapan nito tulad ng mga sumusunod: pagsusuot ng face mask at face shields, disinfection, physical distancing at pagpapakita ng CCTS QR Code. ##(CIO)

Inoculations against the Corona Virus disease (Covid-19) were conducted in the city today March 8, 2021 right after the arrival of Sinovac vaccines as per advisory from the Department of Health (DOH).

Some 137 medical front liners from Kidapawan City Hospital, where the biggest Covid-19 facility is situated, started receiving the vaccines, making them part of the first batch of medical front liners in four hospitals located in the Province of Cotabato to be inoculated as first priority among the sectors targeted for vaccination.

Dr. Hamir Hechanova, Chief of Kidapawan City Hospital was the first to receive the initial dose of the vaccines past 10 A.M. in Notre Dame of Kidapawan College (NDKC) amid optimism and cheers from his fellow front liners.

Dr. Hechanova said that except for a minor pain in the vaccinated part, he felt good overall after getting his first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and expressed his optimism that the activity will be successfully carried out in the next few days where a total of 137 medical front liners will be inoculated.

“I do not feel any adverse reaction after the vaccination. I am hoping that all our front liners will eventually get vaccinated and become protected against Covid-19” said Dr. Hechanova

He urged the public to trust the process and get vaccinated when the supply of Sinovac or any other Covid-19 vaccines arrive in the city. “This the most essential way to be protected from the virus, and in fact the only way to end Covid-19. 

He finally underlined the importance of the vaccine for Covid-19 stating that the best vaccine is the available vaccine whether it be Sinovac, Astra Zeneca or any other brand of Covid-19 vaccine. 

After Dr. Hechanova, other medical practitioners from the Kidapawan City Hospital were also inoculated and these include Dr. Brylle Catague, Dr. Jennifer Reyes, and Dr. Jazel Lanoza.

The historic vaccination of medical front liners in Kidapawan City Hospital were administered by Kristine Corias and Jerry Macion, trained nurses from the city vaccination team.

The second dose of Covid-19 Sinovac vaccines will be administered to the front liners after 28 days, a period enough to monitor late side-effects, if any.

Kidapawan City has a total of 3,840 medical front liners to be vaccinated. This will be followed by others in the priority list or in the guidelines of the National Inter Agency Task Force for Covid-19 (NIATF) and the DOH. 

For his part, Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph said that this day is very important as the roll out of vaccines commences. He expressed his gratitude to all the stakeholders who supported the city’s local vaccination rollout plan, the first-ever in the Province of Cotabato.

“This is the moment we’ve been waiting for; the actual inoculation of our medical front liners and I hope we can push through with the other eligible individuals and eventually attain a herd immunity”, said the mayor.

Mayor Evangelista said the inoculation of medical front liners is historic and said that this day will be remembered as the day of victory for the people of Kidapawan.  He further said he is more than willing to be vaccinated by Sinovac or any other available vaccine for Covid-19 but has to wait for the schedule set for local officials like him.

Kidapawan City Legal Officer Atty. Pao Evangelista said the City Government has been looking forward for the day the vaccine will come and start with the mass roll out plan and is so glad it is actually happening already.

Atty. Evangelista monitored the vaccination roll out right from the start and was happy to note that everything was in order and the system was followed thoroughly.

“We are doing good and all indications say that the vaccine roll out in the city is alright and this is the result of proper coordination among offices and concerned agencies”, said Atty. Evangelista.

The vaccinees had undergone the vaccination protocol – summed up in 7 steps. First, the minimum health standards and temperature check;  second, checking of vaccinee’s pertinent details and QR code scan; third, watch video presentation and reading of educational materials and signing of informed consent; fourth, vital signs and history taking, assessment by a physician; fifth, checking of pertinent documents and QR code and actual vaccination; sixth, submission of data to collection officer, information sheet to monitoring nurse and observation of the vaccinee for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour; and seventh; taking of pictures and use of hash tags for social media posts.

Dr. Rubelita Aggalut, Development Management Officer V, Center for Health Development DOH 12, also expressed much elation with the activity. “I am personally happy to see this thing (vaccination) is finally happening here in the City of Kidapawan, the health department is very optimistic that the inoculation of the medical front liners from the city hospital will be highly successful.

Kidapawan City Health Officer Dr. Jocelyn Incienzo, City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Operations Officer Dr. Nerissa Paalan, Kidapawan City Councilor and Chair of Committee on Health  Marites Malaluan and other City Councilors witnessed the event with much elation.

Aside from the Kidapawan City Hospital, front liners from three other hospitals with Covid-19 facilities also conducted the same activity today. These are the M’lang District Hospital in the Municipality of M’lang, Mindanao Doctor’s Hospital and Cancer Center, Inc., in the Municipality of Kabacan, and the Anecito Pesante Hospital in the Municipality of Midsayap. Sapat na ang proteksyon na ibibigay ng bakuna para maproteksyunan sa impeksyon at komplikasyon na dulot ng Covid19 wika pa ng alkalde sa pagsasagawa ng unang araw ng Covid19 roll out vaccination program sa Notre Dame of Kidapawan College. Hindi pa kasi pinahihintulutan ng National IATF-MEID at DILG ang mga local officials na magpabakuna kontra Covid19 sa halip inuna muna yaong mga medical frontliners, ayon pa kay Mayor Evangelista. Hindi nakitaan ng ano mang negatibong epekto ang 28 na mga medical front liners na nabigyan ng kanilang kauna-unahang dose ng Sinovac Coronavirus Vaccine sa isinagawang vaccination roll out ng City Government ngayong araw. Tanging kirot lamang ng pagtuturok ang naramdaman ng mga nabigyan ng bakuna, ani pa ni Covid19 Temporary Treatment Monitoring Facility Head Dr. Hamir Hechanova na siyang kauna-unahang nabigyan ng bakuna sa lungsod. Maliban sa pagiging mabuting ehemplo para hikayatin ang publiko na magpabakuna, nais ipabatid ni Dr. Hechanova sa lahat ng Kidapawenyos na dapat din nila itong gawin ng sa gayun ay maprotektahan ang sarili at mga mahal sa buhay laban sa Covid19. Inuna ang mga medical frontliners na mabigyan ng bakuna upang masegurong tuloy-tuloy ang serbisyong medical sa mga referral facility sakali mang muling tumaas ang bilang ng kaso ng Covid19 dahil ito mismo ang idinidikta ng DOH at National IATF-MEID on Covid19. 137 na mga medical frontliners sa mga Covid19 referral facility ng lungsod ang target mabigyan ng bakuna, matapos dumating nitong weekend sa lalawigan mula sa DOH 12. Dumaan muna sa masusing screening ang lahat ng medical front liners bago ang aktwal na pagbabakuna. Pagkatapos mabigyan ng bakuna ay sumailalim sa post vaccination observation ang lahat para malaman kung may negatibong epekto sa katawan ang bakuna. Ibibigay naman ang pangalawang dose ng Sinovac 28 days pagkatapos ang unang turok. Maliban sa NDKC Hub, gagawin din ang kahalintulad na aktibidad sa NDKC Integrated Basic Education campus, St. Mary’s Academy at sa Kidapawan Doctors College ngayong linggong kasalukuyan. ##(CIO)

KIDAPAWAN CITY (March 3, 2021) – The City Government of Kidapawan utilized close to P8M funds for the installation of street lights and other improvements in the Center Islands, Quezon Boulevard in Barangay Poblacion and in other villages that need street lighting system.

In its 2020 Accomplishment Report, the City Government’s Task Force Kahayag a group of personnel coming from different offices or department of the City Government assigned to facilitate the street lighting projects, informed that the total of LED luminaires installed is 440.

Engr. Francisco Tanaid, Head of Task Force Kahayag, further informed that from this total, 49 LED lights (110 watts) were installed in the opposite lanes of the Center islands, 92 LED lights (70 watts) in the Barangays of San Roque,Gayola, San Isidro, New Bohol, Linangkob, Sto. Nino, Sumbac, Macebolig, and Onica; and 120 (60 watts) in the Barangays of Kalaisan, Sudapin, Mua-an, Nuangan, and New Bohol. In addition, some 158 additional LED lights (70 watts) were installed in other barangays as part of the completion of the street lighting project of the City Government of Kidapawan, according to the task force.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista said the installation of street lights in the Center islands and different villages is for the safety and security of the residents and the fulfillment of his administration’s mandate to provide lighting system not only in the center of the city but including far-flung villages.

“Most of the crimes and accidents happen in the dark parts of the highway and other main roads but with the streets now illuminated, these can be deterred or avoided”, said Mayor Evangelista. “This is also to prove to our constituents our commitment to serve and uplift their living conditions and that government funds are utilized properly.

The P8M street lighting project was funded through the 20% Economic Development Fund (EDF), City Aid to the Barangays, and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)Performance Challenge Fund received by the City Government of Kidapawan for being awarded the Seal of Local Governance (SGLG) for four consecutive years. 

The Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and the Cotabato Electric Company (COTELCO) provide support to this project in terms of technical and other form of assistance.  (CIO_AJPME/jscj)

Kidapawan City Government fortifies support to local farmers; launches first-ever Vegetable Trading Post

KIDAPAWAN CITY (March 2, 2021) – The Kidapawan City Government has again fortified its support to local farmers with the launching of the new and first-ever Vegetable Trading Post today March 2, 2021 in Barangay Magsaysay, Kidapawan City.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista tasked the City Agriculturist Office headed by Marissa T. Aton to engage with the Kidapawan City Vegetable Growers Association (KCVGA) in order to put up a trading post that will cater wholesale buyers.

“This is one way to increase the income of our vegetable growers because we let them deliver different kinds of vegetables in large quantity and to let wholesalers take advantage by buying these vegetables in volume”, said Mayor Evangelista.

Mayor Evangelista was ably represented by City Legal Officer Atty. Jose Paolo M. Evangelista who thanked the KCVGA for trusting the city government in its advocacy programs to help the agriculture sector who are still reeling with the adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his message, Atty. Evangelista highlighted three important points. First, the City Government of Kidapawan is delighted to have put up the first-ever Vegetable Trading Post; second, the sector of agriculture this year so far has the biggest budget allocation; and third; the involvement of the youth in the agriculture sector is something to be emulated.

“This is the fruit of the effective partnership of the City Agriculturist Office and the local vegetable growers. So far, the City Government this year allotted the biggest budget to agriculture in order to boost local food production in the city; The City Government believes that by ensuring food production and livelihood the people can also attain self-sufficiency. It’s just a matter of bridging support to them in terms of training and capacity building to finally bring out their potentials.

Joel T. Rivera, Sales Marketing and Development Manager of PITAC-Multi-Purpose Cooperative as partner-stakeholder gave a message during the program where he encouraged the vegetable growers to be more enthusiastic and seize every opportunity that will boost their production. “The establishment of the Vegetable Training Post is a big opportunity especially to members of the KCVGA whose produce can now have bigger market”, he said.

In response, Justin Deo C. Javier, President of KCVGA urged all members of the organization to continue their endeavor to increase the supply of vegetable as they already have a place to deliver their harvests. “I want to express my gratitude to the City Government of Kidapawan for engaging our organization in this notable project and to my fellow growers let’s just go and aim higher production as we do not have to worry anymore on where to sell our products” said Javier as he looks forward for more projects with the City Government.

After the launching program the traders started to buy a wide variety of vegetables such as eggplant, radish, pechay, ampalaya, squash, tomatoes, cauliflowers, ube, and many others.

The Vegetable Trading Post will operate every Tuesdays and Saturdays 7AM to 5PM with minimum health protocols to be observed such as wearing of face masks, face shield, among others. (AJPME/jscj)

KIDAPAWAN CITY – SA BISA NG EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 022 S. 2021 na inilabas ni City Mayor Joseph Evangelista nitong March 2, 2021, hindi na required ang travel authority at health certificates sa mga essential at non-essential travelers na uuwi o kaya ay dadaan sa Kidapawan City.

Ito ay bilang pagsunod sa National IATF-MEID Resolution No. 101 dated February 26, 2021 approving the uniform travel protocols for land, air, and sea, of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, crafted in close coordination with the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines, League of Provinces/Municipalities/Cities of the Philippines.

Una ng nirekomenda ng Local IATF kay Mayor Evangelista na sumunod ang City Government sa uniform protocols ng National IATF-MEID sa ilalim ng Resolution No. 03 series of 2021.

Kinakailangang magpakita ng valid ID para maberipika ng mga otoridad ang pagkakakilanlan at edad ng traveler kalakip ang CCTS card na nire-require ng Cotabato Provincial Government sa mga checkpoints papasok ng Kidapawan City.

Bagamat at hindi na required ang travel authority at health certificate, kinakailangan pa ring makipagkita sa CESU ang mga uuwing indibidwal sa lungsod para sa recording at monitoring.

Sasailalim naman sa quarantine protocols ang mga indibidwal na may simtomas ng Covid19 kapag nakarating na sa lungsod.

Kapag nanggaling naman sa mga lugar na nasa GCQ status, hinihikayat na magpresenta ng negative result ng RT-PCR na kinuha sa loob ng 48 oras ang traveler sa CESU.

Hindi pa rin pinapayagan ang mga bata edad 15 anyos pababa at senior citizens edad 65 years old pataas na bumiyahe sa lungsod sa ngayon habang exempted naman sa nabanggit na polisiya ang mga Authorized Persons Outside Residence o APOR. ##(CIO)
