Medical physicians from Kidapawan City to gain from sharing of best practices with Korean counterparts through webinar
KIDAPAWAN CITY, April 5, 2021 – Medical doctors based in Kidapawan City engage in a session with counterparts from South Korea in the Public Health and Services Improvement webinar at the Convention Hall, Kidapawan City from April 5-9, 2021.
The activity aims to help physicians and other front liners to gain more knowledge from the International Urban Training Center in Gangwin Province of the Republic of South Korea in reducing risks of death from non-communicable disease, other emerging and re-emerging infections, environmental threats and most importantly in fighting the Covid-19 disease.
City Health Officer Dr. Jocelyn Encienzo informed that the 5-day webinar will provide more skills and enhance the capability of local doctors to address medical and health concerns amid the health crisis brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This is a very timely seminar, with relatively new learnings and adoption of best practices from our medical counterparts in South Korea”, said Dr. Encienzo as she thanked Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista for his directive to organize the webinar which encompasses both government and private doctors.
For his part, Mayor Evangelista said his administration will take every opportunity to help front liners improve their capacities and in the long run learn how to apply new strategies in medical and health in the new normal way of living.
Mayor Evangelista himself had gone to South Korea in previous years and successfully attended environmental seminars and applied the learnings and best practices here in Kidapawan City particularly in waste or garbage disposal and protection of the environment.
Through the CHO and the City Tourism Office, he earlier tapped the members of the North Cotabato Medical Society to engage with the activity realizing it as a highly essential action to further improve the campaign against Covid-19 and other health issues and concerns.
“We will not let up in looking for ways to help our front liners especially now that there is again an emerging high cases of Covid-19 and new variants of Covid in NCR, we are constantly doing proactive measures so as not to experience the same situation”, the City Mayor stressed.
Each day, the seminar provides and discusses some topics focused on gaining fact-based understanding or insights as the protection, detection, treatment and other significant new ideas.
Gillian Ray T. Lonzaga, City Tourism Operations Officer said the webinar provides a lot of help to the participating doctors who at present have enormous responsibilities in the treatment and monitoring of sick patients specially those infected with the Covid-19 virus.
“We are one with them (front liners) in advocating a Covid-19-free community and by merely supporting activities such as this one we already are doing our share in winning this battle against the dreaded disease”, said Lonzaga.
A wide response came from both government and private medical physicians who not only signified their participation to the five-day webinar but also manifested to apply everything they learned back in their respective hospitals.
They include Chiefs of Hospitals, Medical Officers, OB-GYN Department Heads, Nephrologists, Infection Control Officers, and others.

KIDAPAWAN CITY – PINASINAYAAN kapwa ng Department of Science and Technology XII at ng City Government ang bagong Complementary Food Center ng lungsod.
Malaking tulong ang nabanggit na pasilidad ng Lokal na Pamahalaan na maitaguyod ang Supplemental Feeding Program nito sa mga mga barangay, day care centers at public elementary schools, para mabawasan ang kaso ng malnutrisyon sa mga bata mula sa pagiging sanggol hanggang sa mga nag-aaral sa elementarya.
Kapwa pinangunahan nina DOST XII Regional Director Engr. Sammy Malawan at City Mayor Joseph Evangelista ang ribbon cutting ceremony ng pasilidad na matatagpuan sa Barangay Magsaysay umaga ng April 8, 2021.
Taong 2017 ng ipinasa ni Mayor Evangelista ang Establishment of a Common Service Facility for Nutritious Complementary Food Processing Project sa DOST upang mabigyang lunas ang dumarami noong bilang ng mga batang kulang sa nutrisyon sa mga day care at public elementary schools sa lungsod.
Naisakatuparan ang proyekto sa ilalim ng DOST – FNRI o Food and Nutrition Research Institute ng ahensya, ayon pa kay Director Malawan.
Nagkakahalaga ng Php3 Million ang proyekto kung saan ay Php1.3 Million ang ginasto ng City Government sa pagpapatayo ng gusali at karagdagang Php1.7 Million na mga kagamitan na magpo-proseso ng pagkain ng mga bata ang nagmula naman sa DOST XII.
Sa kanyang mensahe, ini-ugnay ni Mayor Evangelista ang kanyang programa sa Edukasyon, Kalusugan, Nutrisyon at Social Services upang matamo ang pag-unlad ng mga bata sa lungsod.
Isang malaking hakbang na maisakatuparan ito sa pamamagitan ng Complementary Food Center, dagdag pa ng alkalde.
Hinikayat ni Mayor Evangelista ang City Nutrition Office na makipag-ugnayan sa City Agriculture Office upang makakuha ng mga pangunahing sangkap gaya ng gulay, bigas at iba pang masusustansyang pagkain na ipo-proseso ng pasilidad.
Ang naprosesong produkto ay kargado na sa tamang nutritional requirements na kinakailangan ng bawat bata na kakainin nila tuwing may isasagawang supplemental feeding activity sa barangay, day care center at eskwelahan.
Ikalawa na ang Kidapawan City na nakipag-ugnayan sa DOST XII sa buong Rehiyon na makapagpatayo ng local government run Complementary Food Center. ##(CIO)
KIDAPAWAN CITY – NABIGYAN na ng kani-kanilang pangalawang Sinovac doses ang 134 na mga front liners ng City Hospital ng lungsod.
Ginawa ang pagbabakuna nitong April 5, 2021 o isang buwan matapos ang unang dose ng Sinovac noong nakalipas na buwan ng Marso.
Ang bilang ay bahagi lamang ng 411 na mga front liners na naunang nabigyan ng bakuna sa first implementation ng Vaccination Roll Out Plan ng City Government.
Ito ay alinsunod na rin sa Vaccination Roll Out Plan ng City Government na target mabigyan ng unang prayoridad sa pagbabakuna yaong mga medical front liners na siyang nangangasiwa at nagpapatakbo sa mga Covid19 treatment facilities ng Kidapawan City.
Nagmula ang mga bakunang nabanggit sa Department of Health kung saan ay inuna yaong mga front liners laban sa Covid19 sa buong bansa.
Ginawa ang pagbabakuna sa mga Vaccination Hubs na itinalaga ng City Government na kinabibilangan ng Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, St. Mary’s Academy, Kidapawan Doctor’s College mga pribado at pampublikong ospital, at isolation and quarantine facilities.
Kumpara noong unang pagbabakuna, mas naging mabilis na ang pagbibigay ng second dose ng Sinovac sa mga front liners.
Panawagan naman ni City Mayor Joseph Evangelista na magpabakuna na rin ang publiko sakaling dumating na ang bakunang bibilhin ng City Government para na rin mapigilan ang pagtaas ng kaso ng Covid19 at maiwasan na magka-komplikasyon dala ng sakit.
Target na unang mabibigyan nito ang mga senior citizens at indigent population ng lungsod.
Patuloy din na nananawagan ang alkalde sa lahat na sumunod pa rin sa mga itinakdang minimum health protocols para iwas Covid19. ##(CIO)

KIDAPAWAN CITY – BUMABA ANG KASO NG VIOLENCE Against Women and Children o VAWC sa lungsod nitong taong 2020.
Ito ay inihayag mismo ni City Mayor Joseph Evangelista sa kanyang mensahe sa Culmination Program ng National Women’s Month sa lungsod nitong March 30, 2021.
Ang pagbaba ng kaso ng VAWC ay dahil na rin sa pagpupunyagi ng City Social Welfare and Development Office o CSWDO at partner stakeholders na maipa-alam sa mga kababaihan ang kanilang mga karapatan sa tahanan at sa lipunan sa kabuo-an at matulungan ang mga biktima ng pang-aabuso.
Sa report na inilabas ng CSWDO, bumaba ang kaso ng pisikal, emosyonal at sekswal na pang-aabuso sa mga kababaihan sa iba’t-ibang komunidad sa lungsod kumpara sa mga nakalipas na taon.
Narito naman ang bilang ng kaso ng VAWC sa lungsod: 2016 – 182; 2017-181; 2018-148; 2019-99 at 2020 – 68, ayon pa sa inilabas na report ni Acting CSWD Officer Daisy Gaviola. Mapapansin na bumaba ang kaso ng VAWC sa panahon ng pananalasa ng Covid19 pandemic.
Sa kabila kasi ng mga minimum health protocols at limitadong galaw ng mga mamamayan, binigyan ng ibayong atensyon ni Mayor Evangelista ang pagseguro na nasa maayos ang kalagayan ng mga kababaihan sa pamamagitan ng pagsusulong sa mga programa lalo na ng DSWD at ng Women’s and Children’s Desk ng PNP.
Kaugnay nito, hinimok ng alkalde ang Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Kidapawan lalo na sa mga lady councilors Marites Malaluan, Airene Claire Pagal at SK Federation President Cenn Taynan na lumikha ng ordinansa na magbibigay ng tulong pangkabuhayan sa mga naging biktima ng VAWC.
Bagamat at limitado ang bilang dahil na rin sa mga umiiral na Covid19 minimum health protocols, nagtipon-tipon ang ilang mga women’s groups sa lungsod sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng mga Kababaihan sa Culmination Program nitong March 30, 2021 sa Mega Tent ng City Hall.
Ito ay kinabibilangan ng: Mothers Club, Rural Improvement Club, Kalipi ng Lahing Pilipina, Four P’s Women’s Organization, Bangsamoro Women, City Indigenous Women’s Federation at ang Cotabato Indigenous People Women’s Association. ##(CIO)
