THE CITY NATIONAL FOOD AUTHORITY HERE HAS PAID MORE THAN P25 MILLION WORTH OF DELINQUENT REAL PROPERTY TAXES TO THE CITY GOVERNMENT.

The NFA Kidapawan CITY officials personally handed over the cheque containing the said amount to City Treasurer Elsa Palmones on Wednesday October 4.

City Mayor Joseph Evangelista in an interview said that the payment was made just three days before the lapse given by the City Government.

It can be recalled that the NFA real properties were subjected into a public auction on October 6, 2016 after it failed to settle all its tax delinquencies to the City LGU.

The said properties located along the National Highway, were sold by the City Government to the Davao City based New City Commercial Center for more than P22 Million.

The NFA was given a one year redemption period to reclaim their property and pay the necessary real property delinquent taxes to the Local Government.

A case was filed by the NFA against the City Government to the Court of Tax Appeals due to its real properties being auctioned.

The NFA in its contention said that they are exempted from such for being a Government Owned Controlled Corporation.

However, the Court of Tax Appeals ruled out these cases in favor of the City Government.

With all its tax delinquencies paid, the Mayor has tasked the City Legal Office to ask the NFA to finally drop all its cases filed against the City Government.

Meanwhile, the City Government will return the P22 Million paid by the NCCC after the NFA has redeemed its real properties, Mayor Evangelista said.
