Moving forward better: City Government to begin road concreting projects for 2020

KIDAPAWAN CITY – CITY Mayor Joseph Evangelista’s request to the Sangguniang Panlungsod for approval of a Supplemental Budget to address priority needs of the City has been approved.

Sangguniang Panlungsod, on January 21, 2020 thru a Special Session, passed a Resolution approving Supplemental Budget Number 1, CY 2020, to authorize the use of funds for the said projects, among others.

“ This is part of the City Government’s ongoing efforts to bring back normalcy to the lives of all Kidapaweños. Let us work together to build a better Kidapawan, let us move forward together. We thank the City Development Council and the Sangguniang Panlungsod for sharing our collective intent to rise up together”, then Mayor said.

Priority infrastructure projects particularly the Road Concreting of the Circumferential Road/ Ninoy Aquino Extension(Junction Kidapawan-Calunasan M’lang Road) and Purok 7 Barangay Sudapin highlight the items included in the Supplemental Budget.

Under the Supplemental Budget, Php 30,200,000 will be allocated for the road concreting project of the Circumferential Road/Ninoy Aquino Extension (Junction Kidapawan – Calunasan M’lang Road-Purslane Section.)

Meanwhile, Php 1,800,000 will be used to fund the road concreting project for Purok 7 in Barangay Sudapin in front of the University of Southern Mindanao Kidapawan City campus.
Said projects were approved under City Development Council Resolution Number 2, series of 2020 that will be funded out of the 20% Economic Development Fund.

Certain amounts under the Supplemental Budget were reprogrammed due to the damages brought by the October 2019 earthquakes in the city.##(CIO/lkoasay)

CHO implements 2nd round of Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio
KIDAPAWAN CITY – THE City Health Office here kicked off the second round of the Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio on January 20, 2020.
Health Service Providers from the office begun vaccinating children 0-59 months old in the forty villages as well as identified stations in other locations within the city.
The CHO will also be present in check points in key entry and exit areas of the city to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated.
“ I urge all mothers to have their children ages 5 years old and under to participate in the Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio. Our CHO Health Service Providers are ready to provide your children with free vaccines ”, City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said.
Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio will be implemented until February 2, 2020.
Though there were no reported polio cases in the city, the CHO said.
“ We are targeting 3,000 children 0-59 months old for the second round of the mass anti polio vaccination. We already administered the vaccines for the first 15,000 children during the first round of the vaccination on Nov 25. We will do this door to door so that all children covered under the program are vaccinated.”, Mychel Canlas, RN National Immunization Program Coordinator of the City Health Office said during an interview over the City Government radio program on January 17, 2020.
The Department of Health has intensified its mass vaccination program after it confirmed 16 cases of polio in the country after an outbreak was declared in September 2019.
The mass vaccination will also help boost the protection of the children who already received early anti-polio vaccines.
Polio symptoms include fever, diarrhea, muscle pain, asymmetric ascending paralysis and weakness of extremities.
DOH continues to remind parents to observe the routine vaccination schedule of their children to ensure protection against certain diseases. ##(CIO/lkoasay)

Office of the Deputy Ombudsman awards Blue Certification for City Govt’s easy business permits and licenses renewal
KIDAPAWAN CITY – The City Government was certified for the successful implementation and maintenance of a system that conforms to the ease of doing business standards set by the National Government.
It was certified with the Blue Certification Level 1 by the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao on December 27, 2019.
The Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao certified and recognized Kidapawan City Government’s Business Process and Licensing Office system of Renewing Business Permits and Licenses and Registration of New Businesses.
City Mayor Joseph Evangelista thanked the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao for recognizing the efforts of the City Government.
“ This Certification will inspire us to do more for the business community”, the Mayor bared.
The BPLO was able to make it convenient for business owners to process their annual renewal with the City Government, this according to the audit and documentation report of the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao.
Mayor Evangelista and Kidapawan City Government BPLO Head Lope Quimco received the certification on January 20, 2020.
Awarding the Certification were Villa D. Lim – Graft Prevention and Control Officer III and Atty. JP Leo Asong, both from the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao.
Compared to the past years, the City Government has made it more convenient for business owners to process their permits and licenses this 2020.
This is done to help owners recover their losses incurred during the October 2019 earthquakes that adversely affected the city’s business community.
Two City Ordinances were enacted to help business owners recover their losses.
These are City Ordinance number 19-1296 that extends the business permits and licenses renewal until March 31, 2020 and City Ordinance number 19-1297 that grants a 20% reduction in the payment of Real Property taxes for 2020.
The Blue Certification Level 1 of the City Government lasts until December 27, 2022.##(cio/lkoasay)

Comelec Satellite Voter Registration for Barangays to commence on February 15, 2020
KIDAPAWAN CITY – THE City Commission on Elections here will start its Satellite Voters Registration for all barangays on February 15, 2020.
The Voter Registration is for the scheduled National and Local Elections on May 9, 2022.
These include: the registration of new voters; transfer of voter registration; change/correction of voter registration records; reactivation of registration records; and reinstatement of name in the list of voters will be accepted during the scheduled Satellite Voter Registration for the Barangays, Kidapawan City Election Officer Angelita Failano said.
The schedule is already set after the 22nd City Charter Day Celebration on February 12, 2020, Failano added.
Satellite Voter Registration for the barangays will be done on Saturdays and Holidays.
The Comelec will also give priority to Senior Citizens, Persons with Disabilities, and Pregnant Women in a special Voter Registration to be scheduled later.
Those who will be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day on May 9, 2022, a resident of the Philippines for 1 year and in the place where the voter intends to vote for at least six months on or before Election Day , may register.
There are 79,253 registered voters in the city as of January 2020, data from the City Comelec shows.
The Comelec aims to register 5-10% of voters for the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections.##(cio/lkoasay)

Kidapawan City sends full contingent to SOCCSKSARGEN Regional meet 2020
KIDAPAWAN CITY – A TOTAL of 657 student athletes, coaches and officials will represent the city for the SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Meet on February 18 to 21, 2020 at General Santos City.
Kidapawan City is sending its delegation to the meet despite the limited resources available as a result of the October 2019 earthquakes in the city.
City Mayor Joseph Evangelista assured the delegation of the City Government’s full support to their needs for the said meet.
The mayor emphasized that this is one of the ways to address the stress debriefing of the youth athletes, as well as a clear message that the city is moving forward from the effects of the earthquakes.
The athletes are training under the One City One Team One Goal Sports Development Program.
The city delegation aims to duplicate its Fourth Over-All Place finish in 2019.
Kidapawan City athletes won 39 gold, 32 silver and 46 bronze medals during the previous SOCCSKSARGEN meet in Kiamba, Sarangani Province.
Support from the City Government is mainly on logistical needs of the delegation while the Department of Education Division Office will handle the ground operations during the actual conduct of the meet.
The City Government subsidized the uniforms, caps, backpacks, jogging pants of the athletes for the competitions.
The City Government will also shoulder the delegation’s daily food sustenance, multivitamins, Gatorade Sports Drink and transportation going to and from the host city and playing venues.
Athletes from the Elementary and Secondary levels who won in last year’s Kidapawan City meet will compete in the event.
Among the medal events that will be contested are: Archery, Arnis, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Billiards, Boxing, Chess, Football, Futsal, Gymnastics, Pencak Silat, Sepak Takraw, Softball, Swimming, Table and Lawn Tennis, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Wrestling, Wushu and Dance Sports.
Winning athletes will represent the SOCCSKSARGEN Team for the 2020 Palarong Pambansa in Marikina City on May 1-10, 2020.##(cio/lkoasay)

PRC Kidapawan opens LET application for March 29, 2020 exams
KIDAPAWAN CITY – THE SATELLITE OFFICE OF THE PROFESSIONAL REGULATION COMMISSION HERE is opening the slot applications starting today – January 16, 2020 for the Licensure Examination for Teachers or LET.
Licensure Examination for Teachers is scheduled on March 29, 2020.
Applications for LET is until January 29, 2020 at the PRC Satellite Office located at the City Overland Terminal here.
The PRC is allocating 2,500 to 3,000 slots for LET examinees who will take the exams in Kidapawan City.
The City Government of Kidapawan and the PRC will set up Testing Centers for the LET.
These are Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, Kidapawan City Pilot Elementary School, Felipe Suerte Elementary School and Colegio de Kidapawan.
All applicants are required to register first online to book their slots for the LET.
Once done, applicants will be able to determine when will be the schedule for the processing of their LET application at the PRC Satellite Office.
Examinees are advised to bring with them their pertinent documents as requirement for the LET application.
All pertinent documents required for the LET are listed in the PRC website at www.prc.gov.ph.

Payments for the LET Application will be collected during the processing at the PRC.
The City Government is planning to request the PRC for an extension of the LET application to cater more examinees.

City Gov’t streamlines public information dissemination
KIDAPAWAN CITY – IN AN Effort to better serve the public and bring more awareness to its programs, projects and activities, the City Government is streamlining its information services from all of its offices.
City Mayor Joseph Evangelista signed Memorandum Number 070 s. of 2020 on January 10 that directs all departments of the City Government in designating their respective information liaisons.
The designated information liaison(s) will serve as point persons who will assist the City Information Office in bringing consciousness to the public of the necessary details of projects, programs and activities of their departments.
Information dissemination will be provided to the public via the City Government website, radio program, printed materials and social media page.
Under the Memorandum, department heads will assign employees as information liaisons of their offices.
The department head can also be the information liaison him/herself if the need to provide sufficient details arises.
Departments should submit the list of activities to the CIO to be documented for better coverage.
In the case of the Sagguniang Panlungsod, the City Vice Mayor and City Councilors can designate his/her own information liaison, separate from the Sangguniang Panlungsod in general, to report on Resolutions filed, privilege speeches made, and Ordinances endorsed, among other official and/or legislative activities.
All Departments can also submit photographs and/or video files to the City Information Office for proper dissemination in the available forms of media for the information of the general public.##(cio/lkoasay)

City Government implements Post Earthquake Rehabilitation Projects
KIDAPAWAN CITY – In just over two months since the high magnitude quakes, the City Government begins implementation of rehabilitation projects.
The City Government is in the process of consummating a memorandum of agreement with beneficiaries of the new housing units to be constructed at Resettlement Sites for earthquake displaced families.
City Mayor Joseph Evangelista revealed this as he led a consultation among affected families at the Tent City and Base camp evacuation areas situated at Barangay Ilomavis on January 10, 2020.
The City Government has partnered with the National Housing Authority in implementing the program.
Houses costing about P260,000 each are free, Mayor Evangelista assured the affected families.
For each housing unit, it will take about three (3) days to construct the concrete slabs and eight (8) hours to assemble the same.
Among the salient points included in the Memorandum of Agreement are the following: Beneficiaries are not allowed to sell, transfer, dispose or lease the house to other individuals; expansion of the house is allowed provided that it conforms to the standards set by the National Building Code; the beneficiaries will pay the monthly power and water bills and other needed improvements after the housing unit is awarded by the City Government; “One House-One Family” policy and propriety rights of owners will be respected.
Site development is already ongoing at Barangay Balabag and will commence in Barangay Ilomavis once the necessary resolutions from the Barangay Council is endorsed to the City Government.
Aside from being residents of high risk areas, beneficiaries should also be registered voters of the barangay, and included in the Community Based Monitoring System or CBMS list.
The Mayor also answered questions propounded by these families regarding the new housing units they will be receiving for free from the City Government and the National Housing Authority.
Beneficiaries were assured that the City Government will respect existing rights over home and agricultural lots situated within high risk areas but they must go back to the resettlement site within the day for their safety.
The City Government will ask the Energy Development Corporation for transportation arrangements to ferry the residents to and from the high risk areas where their farms are located to answer for necessary costs of transporting their produce for their livelihood activities. ##(cio/lkoasay)
