Kidapawan City Government fortifies support to local farmers; launches first-ever Vegetable Trading Post
KIDAPAWAN CITY (March 2, 2021) – The Kidapawan City Government has again fortified its support to local farmers with the launching of the new and first-ever Vegetable Trading Post today March 2, 2021 in Barangay Magsaysay, Kidapawan City.
Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista tasked the City Agriculturist Office headed by Marissa T. Aton to engage with the Kidapawan City Vegetable Growers Association (KCVGA) in order to put up a trading post that will cater wholesale buyers.
“This is one way to increase the income of our vegetable growers because we let them deliver different kinds of vegetables in large quantity and to let wholesalers take advantage by buying these vegetables in volume”, said Mayor Evangelista.
Mayor Evangelista was ably represented by City Legal Officer Atty. Jose Paolo M. Evangelista who thanked the KCVGA for trusting the city government in its advocacy programs to help the agriculture sector who are still reeling with the adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In his message, Atty. Evangelista highlighted three important points. First, the City Government of Kidapawan is delighted to have put up the first-ever Vegetable Trading Post; second, the sector of agriculture this year so far has the biggest budget allocation; and third; the involvement of the youth in the agriculture sector is something to be emulated.
“This is the fruit of the effective partnership of the City Agriculturist Office and the local vegetable growers. So far, the City Government this year allotted the biggest budget to agriculture in order to boost local food production in the city; The City Government believes that by ensuring food production and livelihood the people can also attain self-sufficiency. It’s just a matter of bridging support to them in terms of training and capacity building to finally bring out their potentials.
Joel T. Rivera, Sales Marketing and Development Manager of PITAC-Multi-Purpose Cooperative as partner-stakeholder gave a message during the program where he encouraged the vegetable growers to be more enthusiastic and seize every opportunity that will boost their production. “The establishment of the Vegetable Training Post is a big opportunity especially to members of the KCVGA whose produce can now have bigger market”, he said.
In response, Justin Deo C. Javier, President of KCVGA urged all members of the organization to continue their endeavor to increase the supply of vegetable as they already have a place to deliver their harvests. “I want to express my gratitude to the City Government of Kidapawan for engaging our organization in this notable project and to my fellow growers let’s just go and aim higher production as we do not have to worry anymore on where to sell our products” said Javier as he looks forward for more projects with the City Government.
After the launching program the traders started to buy a wide variety of vegetables such as eggplant, radish, pechay, ampalaya, squash, tomatoes, cauliflowers, ube, and many others.
The Vegetable Trading Post will operate every Tuesdays and Saturdays 7AM to 5PM with minimum health protocols to be observed such as wearing of face masks, face shield, among others. (AJPME/jscj)
Kidapawan City Agriculture and Fisheries Council awarded the Best Performing
CAFC for 2020
KIDAPAWAN CITY (March 1, 2021) – The Department of Agriculture (DA) – 12
recognized the Agriculture and Fisheries Council of Kidapawan City as the best
performing City Agriculture and Fisheries Council (CAFC) in Region 12 for the year
2020
DA 12 Regional Executive Director Arlan Mangelen led the distribution of the Plaque of
Appreciation to the awardees during the recent culmination program of the 6 th National
Agriculture and Fisheries Volunteers’ Day held in Koronadal City where City Agriculturist
Office sent delegates.
Several criteria served as the basis for selecting the best CAFC which include the
number of consultations conducted in the area, number of monitoring conducted to
agriculture and fishery projects, and the number of local issues raised and resolved by
the CAFC through the resolutions approved by the body.
During the initial and up to the final selection process, the CAFC of Kidapawan topped
other CAFCs based in Tacurong City, Koronadal City, and General Santos City.
City Agriculturist Marissa T. Aton said the search for Best Performing CAFC will help
motivate the CAFC and other stakeholders to perform better and institutionalize its best
practices in the community.
“Our CAFC and volunteers have been doing their best to uplift the agriculture and
fisheries sector by being committed and dedicated in performing its tasks and help small
farmers cope up with these challenging times”, said Aton as she expressed high
optimism for more fruitful years for CAFC.
She also emphasized the continuous efforts of the City Government of Kidpawanunder
the administration of Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista in helping the farmers cope up with
the adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and other challenges confronting the
agriculture sector.
The Search for the Best Performing City Agriculture and Fisheries Council Award is an
annual undertaking of the DA – ATI12 which aims to give due recognition and honor to
dedicated individuals, volunteers, and institutions and have shown exemplary
performance and accomplishments which contributed largely to the region’s agricultural

“AI sa Barangay” project can help boost supply of pork – City Vet
Kidapawan City (March 1, 2021) – The Artificial Insemination (AI) project recently
launched in Barangay Kalaisan, Kidapawan City can pave the way for hog raisers to
have superior breed of pigs and increase production of pork meat.
City Veterinarian II Dr. Ellaine Mahusay, during the launching held at Multiplier Farm,
Barangay Kalaisan highlighted the significance of AI among the many hog raisers and
piggeries in the city which can be a defining factor in recovering from the ill-effects of
the Covid-19 pandemic which has severely affected hog raisers not only in the city but
other places as well.
“Piglets attain better genetics through Artificial Insemination, less chance of being
injured as they grow and acquire other numerous benefits by performing the process to
mature female pigs and sow.” said Dr. Mahusay at the same time informing hog raisers
of the upcoming AI in other villages.
The launching was done with the opening of a new pig pen with some 10 sows given AI
with the presence of Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute12 (DA-
ATI) Center Director Abdul I. Daya-an, City Veterinarian Dr. Eugene Gornez, Kicapawan
City Councilor Engr. Peter Salac (Chairperson-SP Kid Committee on Agriculture),
Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Rufino Sorupia and stakeholders in the barangay.
For his part, Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista said the effective
implementation of programs and projects for farmers badly affected by the pandemic
and African Swine Fever (ASF) is definitely what the agriculture sector needs.
“We bring the service closer to the people especially to the small farmers who have
basically nothing to rely on in these trying times” the mayor said as he thanked the DA-
ATI 12 for the partnership”,
After Barangay Kalaisan, interested and qualified hog raisers from other villages will be
visited by the City Vet for the insemination process. With this process, hog owners will
not be burdened by bringing their sows to the City Vet but only have to wait for the
personnel to come and perform the insemination.
On the other hand, Daya-an explained that the DA will continue to partner with the City
Government in terms of uplifting the status of the farmers and providing sustainable
development in agriculture.
“In this particular program, we are looking into the measures to help our farmers
particularly hog raisers to maximize their productions and consequently to address the
low supply of pork meat in the market” Daya-an said.
He also added that the “AI sa Barangay” resulted from joint efforts and collaboration of
the City Government of Kidapawan and the DA which has already implemented many
projects benefiting the farmers’ sector.
With this development, the City Agriculturist Office is looking forward for hog raisers to
achieve maximum production and potential with the help of intervention projects such as
the one held in Barangay Kalaisan and soon in other areas within the city.
Conceptualizing on the full potential and better production of hog raisers in Kidapawan
City and to stabilize the supply of pork meat in the public market, the City Government

City Government of Kidapawan prepares for COVID-19 vaccine rollout
KIDAPAWAN CITY (February 16, 2021) – The City Government of Kidapawan is exerting more efforts ahead of the awaited rollout of COVID-19 vaccine in the city anytime soon this year and in line with the mandate of the National Inter-Agency Task Force (NIATF) for Covid-19 and with the guidelines set by the Vaccination Program of the Department of Health (DOH).
No less than Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista presented the city’s Mass Vaccination Roll Out Plan through a Power Point presentation at the City Convention Center today, February 16, 2021 with the presence of Cotabato Governor Nancy A. Catamco, Dr. Marjorie Aggalot DOH Representative for Cotabato Province, Cotabato Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Head Dr. Eva C. Rabaya, City Health Office Dr. Jocelyn Encienzo, Assist. City Health Officer Dr. Ted Calica, City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU) OIC Dr. Nerissa Paalan, and other stakeholders.
“We are doing everything we can to have an organized and systematic vaccination and we started it by coming up with a comprehensive vaccination plan which is essential in the final stages of fighting the disease”, said Mayor Evangelista.
The rollout plan contains several phases which includes creation of a master list of the priority and eligible populations for vaccination such as senior citizens, front liners, and other set of vaccinee individuals or groups, identification of vaccination sites, trained human resource converted into teams needed to administer the vaccines to the populace, preparation of cold chain storage necessary to secure the vaccines the moment they arrive.
The plan also encompasses simulation or dry run of the vaccination proper where city officials among the first ones to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Also incorporated in the plan is the actual vaccination rollout in approved vaccination sites and the post-vaccination and monitoring of vaccinees as well as assessment.
The City Government of Kidapawan is the first among the LGUs in the Province of Cotabato to formulate and present its local mass vaccination plan and is consistently beefing up its preparations ahead of the anticipated arrival of the vaccines and its subsequent rollout.
With the approval of the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Kidapawan, the city government has allotted some P28.9M from the 30% Quick Response Fund of the City’s DRRMO to ensure the purchase of around 49,500 COVID-19 vaccines which will cover 30% population of the city. At the same time, this serves as augmentation to the Covid-19 vaccines provided by the national government which will accommodate more or less 115,500 representing 70%of the population of the city.

At present, the City Government has identified a total of 6 vaccination sites to spearhead COVID-19 vaccination and these are Kidapawan City Pilot Elementary School, Kidapawan City National High School, Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, Kidapawan Doctors College, and the St. Mary’s Academy of Kidapawan.
Meanwhile, after his power point presentation, Mayor Evangelista along with Gov. Catamco and other officials proceeded to the area where two refrigerated vans are safely placed. These refrigerated vans will be used as storage facilities for COVID-19 vaccines once they arrive. The vans have -20 to -25 degrees Celsius which is the required temperature for the vaccine to retain its efficacy.
“It is so important that we secure the vaccines and keep its integrity from the time of its arrival and when it is being transported with these storage facilities”, said Mayor Evangelista as he underlined the preparations made by concerned offices tasked to do especially the CESU, CHO, and the PNP for security.
The area where the refrigerated vans are being safekept is secured and accessible at the same time so as to ensure fast delivery by the time the mass vaccination starts. (AJPME/JSCJ)
Kidapawan City (February 10, 2021) – Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista is awarded the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Presidential Lingkod Bayan Regional Award for 2020.
CSC 12 Assistant Regional Director Atty. Venus O. Bumanlag presented the plaque to Mayor Evangelista with the presence of CSC Cotabato Field Office Head Glenda F. Lasaga along with some key personnel at the simple awarding ceremony held at the Conference Room of the City Hall this morning.
“This award is for all the men and women of the City Government and the constituents of Kidapawan” Mayor Evangelista said upon receiving the award. He thanked everyone who has extended help and support to the programs and projects of the city government which made it more meaningful and life-changing.
Mayor Evangelista, in his message of thanks, emphasized the significance of inspiring and motivating government employees to give their best in serving the constituents and to build unity and solidarity among government workers and most especially uphold public trust and confidence.
ARD Bumanlag said that being a service-oriented, innovative, visionary and inspirational leader are some of the attributes of Mayor Evangelista that made him an outstanding public servant, thus, the CSC cited him as one of the Presidential Lingkod Bayani (PLB) Regional Awardees.
She said that notably, the City Government of Kidapawan has been a recipient of different awards and recognitions from various national government agencies such as the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and other offices because of the notable performance rendered by Mayor Evangelista and other local officials and for meeting or even surpassing the criteria or set of standards.
The PLB award is one of the three prestigious awards given by the CSC to government officials with exemplary performances. The other two are the CSC Pagasa Awards and Dangal ng Bayan Awards.
The 121st Anniversary of the CSC this year is highlighted by the PLB awards which aims to institutionalize excellence in public service and to give due recognition to deserving public servants.

Kidapawan City (February 9, 2021) – The continuing effort of the Kidapawan City Government to encourage the business sector in applying and securing their business licenses and permits on time has yielded affirmative results.
Kidapawan City Legal Officer and Acting Information Officer Atty. Paolo M. Evangelista said the City Business Licensing and Processing Office (CBLPO) has now issued some 2,421 business licenses and permits to various small, medium, and large enterprises and other business establishments in the city.
“This is attributable to the endeavor of the City Government to provide assistance to the business sector by carefully identifying their needs especially when it comes to business requirements such as the implementation of the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) every January of each year” said Atty. Evangelista
“Through the BOSS, business owners or their representatives availed of the simplified processing of their documents whether it be application of new business licenses or renewal for existing establishments.” Atty Evangelista further said.
Moreover, government agencies and offices that issues clearances and permits and even certifications and authorizations such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Trade and industry (DTI), Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) along with the concerned offices of the City Government such as the CBPLO, City Health Office and others set up their desks at the City Hall grounds to streamline the flow and ease the issuance of required documents.
Business owners who have yet to comply with the requirements are being assisted by the respected offices of the City Government as well as the national line agencies. Those who are to renew their documents will simply have to follow several steps with the help of the assigned or designated government representatives up to the final step which is the issuance of the business permit or license.
For his part, Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A, Evangelista said his administration only aims to promote a business-friendly environment in the city by simplifying the process of registering or renewing a business through an effective collaboration with concerned government agencies and eventually boost the confidence of investors in the city.

Kidapawan City (February 5, 2021) – The City Government of Kidapawan through Kidapawan City Hospital (KCH) Chief Dr. Hamir Hechanova reported a total of 187 Covid-19 hospital beds are now in place at the different isolation facilities and Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) in the city.
This is part of the City Government’s continuous effort to further improve the capacity for Covid-19 response, according to Dr. Hechanova citing the significance of increasing the number of hospital beds with the rising number of cases in the city.
Kidapawan City Hospital Covid-19 Treatment Facility taking the lead in admitting and monitoring Covid-19 positive cases under the One Hospital Command Center policy has 50 beds; while private hospitals such as Kidapawan City Doctors Hospital, Inc. (KDHI) has 20; Kidapawan Medical Specialists Center, Inc. (KMSCI) 20, Midway Hospital Kidapawan, Inc. 13; and Madonna Medical Center, Inc. 12. The newly converted isolation facilities Double R Placeand Dizon Hospital has 20 beds and 16 beds, respectively now ready for occupancy.
“Indigent patients are given priority in the said hospitals especially the Kidapawan City Hospital. At present, the Disease Severity Capability of all the city’s isolation and TTMF is at a moderate level”, said Dr. Hechanova.
In addition, the City Gymnasium is now converted into an isolation facility with a 36 Covid-19 bed capacity and will be a big boost in the response to Covid-19 cases in the city.
There is an existing agreement between the Kidapawan City Hospital and the private hospitals to first utilize the beds of KCH but in the event the hospital reaches the high-risk bed capacity, the private hospitals and other TTMF will now have the responsibility to accept or admit their patients or those individuals who had first sought the help of private hospitals.
Meanwhile, Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista said the City Government is all-out in supporting the isolation and treatment facilities by strengthening the Covid-19 response and the whole health system capacity of front liners.
“We do not hesitate to pour our resources for we know the possible effects if we put a halt in our Covid-19 response. Figures of Covid-19 infections might go up or down and we cannot afford to reduce our course of action to fight the disease.” Said Mayor Evangelista.
The Local Chief Executive is optimistic that despite the rise of Covid-19 positive cases in the city, the city’s pro-active measures will eventually yield good results and improve the situation.
Apart from the bed capacity, Mayor Evangelista highlighted the other measures taken to support the campaign against Covid-19 such as the upcoming new Covid-19 Molecular Laboratory where RT-PCR tests for local patients will be done in a fast and accurate manner, continued Information Education Campaign on the minimum health protocols, free issuance of Covid-19 Contact Tracing System/QR Code for the residents of the city and other endeavors aimed to protect the constituents and attain a disease -free community. KIDAPAWAN CITY (February 4, 2021) – More and more constituents of Kidapawan City avail and benefit from the free issuance of Covid-19 Contact Tracing System (CCTS) which begun last December 15, 2021.
Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista said this initiative aims to provide service to the residents especially those who do not have the capacity to secure CCTS or QR Code on their own due to various reasons such as internet and signal problems, no gadgets to be used, and other difficulties.
“The issuance of CCTS ID cards to our residents will help us greatly in achieving a more systematic and efficient contact tracing of individuals who are exposed or had close contacts with Covid-19 positive patients and those exhibiting symptoms of the disease”, said Mayor Evangelista.
The Local Chief Executive also informed that as of Wednesday, February 3, 2021 the number of issued CCTS is 4,163, with just almost two months of operation.
The number of residents availing the free service continue to increase which is an indication that they are well informed and supportive of the City Government’s campaign against Covid-19.
The actual processing is conducted in front of the City Hall though a help desk manned by well-trained personnel. Minimum health protocols are observed such as body temperature, wearing of facemasks and face shields, and physical or social distancing.
While many other Kidapawenos had already secured their CCTS ID through the link provided by the Region 12 Covid19 Contact Tracing System downloadable in their cellphone and other gadgets, the City Government remains keen in helping a bigger number of constituents obtain their own CCTS ID card for free.
The CCTS or Covid19 system tracing ID is mandatory in all public and private establishments and is strictly implemented based on the approved resolutions and guidelines of the Regional IATF for Covid-19. This is also aimed to institutionalize a digitalized system of tracking anyone exposed to Covid19 infected person and control the spread of the virus.
In this regard, Mayor Evangelista urged every Kidapaweno to be mindful of the health protocols and keep on practicing the protective measures against the dreaded disease including washing of hands often, avoid or limit social gatherings and being exposed to crowded places and others.
The City Government also continues to encourage residents in the 40 barangays of the city to report their health condition to their respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) and help in the monitoring of possible Covid-19 infections in their respective areas.
In this way, the City Government can immediately respond to Covid-19 cases apart from the other initiatives taken to strengthen the fight against the disease such as putting up of additional Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) and augmentations given to existing Covid19 Isolation Facilities. Mission Accomplished: Kidapawan City 911 responds to 5,733 emergency calls in2020
Kidapawan City (February 2, 2021) – The Kidapawan City Call 911 was able to respond to a total of 5,733 emergency calls based on its Emergency Medical Service Accomplishment Report for 2020.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRM) Officer Psalmer Bernalte disclosed that from the aggregate response of the Kidapawan City Call 911 to emergency situations, the highest number of emergency response are different medical cases with 1,574; followed by home transport with 972, and OB with 759.
The office also recorded emergency medical services for the following – laboratory (596), vehicular accident (571), out-of-town transport (449), refer and transport (369), dressing and refuse (337), psychotic (81), DOA (28), shooting incident (16), stabbing incident (10), and fire incident (3).
Bernalte attributed the relatively high performance of the CDRRMO for 2020 to the endeavor of Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph A. Evangelista to institutionalize some vital elements such as reporting of emergency cases and incidents of crime, quick and more effective emergency response, and encouraging the residents to participate and support programs that promotes safety and security in the community.
The operations of City Call 911, which is under the supervision of the CDRRMO is an integral part of the Public Safety and Peace and Order Program of the City Government. Along with this is the mission and vision of City Call 911 to continue professionalizing the emergency management system responses of the office.
Bernalte further informed that the CDRRMO’s Public Safety Program has successfully accomplished its planned activities for 2020 which include Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, issuance of Compliance Certification to subdivisions and other infra-development and strengthened the Mosquito Borne Epidemics Management and Control Program which aims to reduce the perilous dengue cases in some barangays.
Other significant activities performed by the CDRRMO were the conduct of aerial visualization which highlights aerial disaster risk assessment and security visualization operations; clearing of Mt. Apo forest fire line that aims to protect the forest from fire through division barriers and many other disaster responses including relief goods distribution and skills enhancement training for responders. KIDAPAWAN CITY (February 1, 2021) – The celebration of Kidapawan City’s 23 rd Charter Day on February 12, 2021 is slated to become more meaningful as the City Government has launched additional online contests for stakeholders to join.

Evangelista said that aside from the line up of virtual competitions such as vlog contest, E-comics making contest, photo essay contest, festival song contest, the City Government has added an array of equally apprising digital activities to include art painting, souvenir shirt design, plantita bidding/raffle, eco-tourism circuit tree planting and Tiktok challenge: Kidapawan
carnival song. Atty. Evangelista said the theme “Celebrating Life, Sustaining Peace, Envisioning Prosperity” of the 23 rd Charter Day of Kidapawan City is fitting and proper for Kidapawenos to be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate as they strictly observe the prescribed minimum health protocols because of the current pandemic.
“These are virtual activities that celebrate our existence and highlight our unity in attaining peace and prosperity” Atty. Evangelista also said with the assurance of a safe and participative festivity.
By virtue of Republic Act 8500 signed by then Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos on February 12, 1998 Kidapawan was declared a Chartered City thereby attaining its own administrative structure and powers. It is also declared as Special Non-Working Holiday in the city to give way for constituents to the activities for the two-week long celebration commenced on February 1, 2021 with the vlog contest spearheaded by the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Kidapawan City.
